WHY JOIN A REFEREE ASSOCIATION?
Mission Statement:
Monmouthshire Referee’s Association is committed to Supporting Referees' Development.
Our aim is to recruit, retain and continuously develop sufficient qualified referees to meet the current and
future needs of the game. We wish to raise the quality, status and benefits of refereeing, for the good of Members and in the interests of the game.
The Monmouthshire Referee’s Association was formed in 1920 so our Association is 101 years old.
Our Association are an organised group of people involved with Refereeing which is
run by Referees for the benefit of Referees. For a small annual subscription of
£14 Adults (Insurance Included) or £7 Juniors (Secondary School)(Insurance Included). Members over 65 years who are not active referees £7.00 (Insurance Included).
Regular Meetings
Our Association meet once a month. This gives members the opportunity to discuss problems they may be having and to receive up to date information & training. Our Association work closely with local leagues to help new referees through the important first few matches and help resolve any problems. Included in our meetings are in house training sessions from experienced members of our Association and Guest speakers from refereeing and from all areas of football administration.
Other Benefits
Monthly newsletter provided by our Association during the football season, with national and local news and a lot
of useful articles.
Mentor schemes in our branch.
Instructors and senior colleagues available to help with any problems.
Support when required to attend a disciplinary hearing.
Advice and guidance from local colleagues who watch local matches with a view to helping referees to develop their techniques and skill levels.
Seminars to develop up-and-coming referees and the referees in local football who wish to improve their performance.
Help with interpreting changes in the Laws.
Insurance
The RA are able to provide extremely low cost insurance for members, included in your annual Subscription. Members are provided with insurance whilst travelling directly to and from a game and during
a game and while on recognised referees' Association business.
MAJOR BENEFITS:
If as a direct result of an accident you suffer:

Loss of limb(s)
·
Loss of eye(s)
·
Death
·
Temporary total disablement.
·
Theft of refereeing equipment.
Benevolent Fund
Hopefully members never need to apply for assistance from the R.A. Benevolent Fund but, sadly, some of our members do fall on hard times and are in need. Whatever the reason for this need the Benevolent
Fund is there to assist all of our members (past and present) and dependants.
